For the 2026 project cycle, the board unanimously decided to proceed with the Peruvian proposal in cooperation with the Municipalidad de Quilca. The decision was based on the project’s strong potential to create meaningful and long-term impact for local communities. The initiative focuses on addressing the growing issue of soil salinization, which poses a serious threat to agricultural productivity and economic stability in the region. By working closely with local farmers, academic institutions, and governmental partners, the project aims to develop sustainable strategies that combine scientific research with practical agricultural applications. The collaboration seeks not only to improve farming conditions and crop productivity, but also to strengthen local resilience through smarter, more sustainable, and innovative agricultural practices that can benefit future generations.
