After months of collaborative effort and digital meetings, the final chapter of the GIPE++ journey has officially begun. We are proud to reveal that the Summer School 2025 is taking place in the vibrant and bustling capital of Indonesia: Jakarta! The first hint was from the film Jumbo, an animated adventure movie that was a big hint in Indonesia. The second hint was about the island Bali, with its beaches, palm trees and temples. That’s why they called it the temple of the Gods.

Hosted by the prestigious Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, this final phase brings together German students and staff for a week of hands-on activities, exploration, and meaningful project finalisation. The experience kicked off the weekend before the program’s official start on Monday, 21 July 2025, as all the German GIPEes and their supervisor were warmly welcomed at the airport and transported to their respective accommodations. The hospitality and care shown by our Indonesian hosts immediately set the tone for the days to follow.

Now with everyone on the ground in Jakarta, the Summer School unfolds through:

• 🤝 Cross-cultural workshops and reflections
• 🏙️ Guided tours and excursions through Jakarta’s rich historical and cultural sites
• ✍️ The final handover and presentation of project outcomes to local stakeholders
• 💬 Lively exchanges between students, staff, and partners

As you can see, this has nothing to do with the other final destination that’s full of horror, fear and uncertainty. This one is a celebration of months of teamwork across continents, culminating in a shared commitment to community-based development and digital empowerment.
